VSTE Goes Green: Over the years we’ve made an effort to reduce the amount of paper waste that gets accumulated by reducing the scope of the printed program. This year we will provide a printed conference program with only a summary schedule of the sessions available during each breakout session. For the full detailed listing of each session we encourage attendees to make use of our online schedule here which will work on mobile devices and all major platforms.

CoSN and the Changing Role of the CTO

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

CTOs are not just the box and wires techies, but now need to possess skills that encompass leadership and vision, understanding the educational environment, and managing technology. For K-12 education technology leaders, earning the CETL certification will demonstrate to your staff, superintendent, and other stakeholders that you have mastered the knowledge and skills needed to define the vision for and successfully build 21st century learning environments in your school district. CoSN’s CETL certification is changing the dynamic and profession of the CTO. The CETL certification exam is based on The Framework of Essential Skills of the K-12 CTO, which is the body of knowledge defining the skill areas critical to today’s education technology leaders. The Framework was created and is kept up-to-date by two volunteer panels of education technology leaders. The Framework is divided into three primary areas: Leadership & Vision, Understanding the Educational Environment, Managing Technology & Support Resources. People who want to understand how the role of the CTO is changing and how they can be prepared - should attend this session.
