VSTE Goes Green: Over the years we’ve made an effort to reduce the amount of paper waste that gets accumulated by reducing the scope of the printed program. This year we will provide a printed conference program with only a summary schedule of the sessions available during each breakout session. For the full detailed listing of each session we encourage attendees to make use of our online schedule here which will work on mobile devices and all major platforms.

A New Direction: Moving to Tablets in an established 1:1 computing environment

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Alexandria City Public Schools has run a 1:1 computing environment for ten years at TC Williams and this year we have changed our student device from a Windows Computer to an Android Based Tablet through a company called Amplify. We will be discussing our reasons that prompted us to make this change, the planning it took for us to get there, and the technical infrastructure that had to be in place for us to undertake such a change. To make such a large change in computing environments we had to develop all new policies and procedures for student device usage as well as teacher planning and preparation.
