VSTE Goes Green: Over the years we’ve made an effort to reduce the amount of paper waste that gets accumulated by reducing the scope of the printed program. This year we will provide a printed conference program with only a summary schedule of the sessions available during each breakout session. For the full detailed listing of each session we encourage attendees to make use of our online schedule here which will work on mobile devices and all major platforms.

GAFE: All Hands on Tech - Writing Across the Curriculum

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Tired of hearing your students complain of all the writing they have to do during the school day? “I have to write an essay in English, a research paper in Science, an analysis of a bill in Social Studies,…..WHEN WILL IT END?!?!?!?” During this presentation teachers will reflect on: their schooling experience, how they learned to make connections between subjects, and how flexible their curriculum can be to work with teachers of other subjects for the common good of their students (ISTE T 1; T 3; T 5). Teachers will brainstorm ways their school can work collaboratively to lessen the workload for their students while still receiving quality work (ISTE T 5/ ISTE S 2). Students will collaborate with each other to edit works for each teacher/class (ISTE S 2a). Presenters will demonstrate how they use Google's Apps for Education tools across the curriculum to not only lessen the workload for students; but also improve the quality of student work submitted.
