VSTE Goes Green: Over the years we’ve made an effort to reduce the amount of paper waste that gets accumulated by reducing the scope of the printed program. This year we will provide a printed conference program with only a summary schedule of the sessions available during each breakout session. For the full detailed listing of each session we encourage attendees to make use of our online schedule here which will work on mobile devices and all major platforms.

A Course for Adventure--Technology Toolbuckets: A Mind on a New Port of Call!

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Come Sail on our Love Boat! Brownsville Elementary School's 4th and 5th Grades are in the second year of implementing a Technology Toolbucket in every classroom. Each learning space has an array of multi-platform devices which are used to guide students in identifying which resources or tool can help with decision making, planning, time management, and goal setting. (C/T 3-5.8) Since the students share devices, organization is our life preserver. We will demonstrate how we manage to keep afloat by sharing our daily practices that create seamless and exciting learning experiences. We will share both student products and teacher processes that enable students to communicate effectively with others through the use of technology tools. (C/T 3-5.10) Every day we navigate the waters to change what learning looks like and make instruction meaningful. We will show attendees how to setup their classes for success with google docs, google presentations, Prezi, Animoto, Nearpod, Educreations, Haiku Deck, and Pages to mention a few. To increase the size of our collaborative fleet and gain teacher partners, we would love to share some management strategies for multiple devices optimizing the google platform which streamline how students transfer information from devices to teachers, families, and other students. Our port of call is Success through the Four Seas (or the four Cs of Collaboration, Communication, Creativity, and Critical Thinking).
