VSTE Goes Green: Over the years we’ve made an effort to reduce the amount of paper waste that gets accumulated by reducing the scope of the printed program. This year we will provide a printed conference program with only a summary schedule of the sessions available during each breakout session. For the full detailed listing of each session we encourage attendees to make use of our online schedule here which will work on mobile devices and all major platforms.

Introduce and enhance complex coding algorithms with robots that dance choreographically. The session will introduce how to program robots using a high level programming language and will demonstrate how coding and creativity bond to motivate students. This session applies to those who teach computer science; want to enhance coding in their classrooms and bolster programming in their school systems with ease. Participants will experience coding in C using robots previously constructed by students. Participants experience how the design of the robot influences the music and vice versa. All these aspects then influence the code and motivate students. The artistic qualities of this approach attract girls to the field of computer science. Dancing dolls and animatronics devices no longer are a phenomenon. This approach can be used for beginning coders starting from middle school. Participants will be amazed how higher level programming techniques using methods are so readily and easily used and learned.
