VSTE Goes Green: Over the years we’ve made an effort to reduce the amount of paper waste that gets accumulated by reducing the scope of the printed program. This year we will provide a printed conference program with only a summary schedule of the sessions available during each breakout session. For the full detailed listing of each session we encourage attendees to make use of our online schedule here which will work on mobile devices and all major platforms.

How Do We get Our Preservice Teachers Globally Connected?

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Global projects during preservice teacher field work can equip interns with an international perspective by interacting with veteran teachers around the world. This study examined attitudes and tendencies of interns and mentor teachers after they had experienced a multi-school global project for the first time. This study supports previous research demonstrating that project-based learning with technology promotes deliberate practice in areas such as global awareness, technology use, communication, creativity, and problem solving. Preservice interns collaborated with global project partners using blogs, video conferencing, e-mail, and other creative embedded digital media while learning in areas of literacy, social studies, math, and fine arts. Participants reported positive teacher education experiences, new personal learning networks on a worldwide basis, and the desire to engage in global projects again.
