VSTE Goes Green: Over the years we’ve made an effort to reduce the amount of paper waste that gets accumulated by reducing the scope of the printed program. This year we will provide a printed conference program with only a summary schedule of the sessions available during each breakout session. For the full detailed listing of each session we encourage attendees to make use of our online schedule here which will work on mobile devices and all major platforms.

There has a been a virtual explosion over the past three years of new and innovative tools for creating high-impact ed media for engaging learners. For VSTE 2012, the count was 45 tools. For VSTE 2013, it was 109 tools. For VSTE 2014, the count is 600+ tools and counting. This session provides a hands-on look at the very latest tools in areas including augmented reality, gaming, video, audio, eBooks, interactive timelines, screencasting, mind mapping, iPad-based production, apps, eLearning authoring, and web development, all from an instructional perspective. After an overview of all tools, participants will have an opportunity to work hands-on with the tools that interest them most. This is a BYOD event, so participants are encouraged to bring their own devices (laptop, tablet, phone, other). Participants are also encouraged to bring their own latest discoveries of content creation tools of interest for sharing with the group. By the end of the session, participants will; 1) Be able to list several dozen content creation tools relevant to their teaching and learning, including where to go for further information to support exploration subsequent to the session; and 2) Gain basic proficiency on one or two content creation tools of their choosing and develop a plan for more advanced mastery. The workshop is part of the Ed Media Exchange (EMX) initiative, in support of widespread adoption and dissemination of ed media in higher education and P-12.
